What Does “Research Use Only” Mean?

“Research use only” is a designation used by chemical suppliers to indicate that a product is intended strictly for laboratory analysis, method development, and quality control applications. It means the material has not been evaluated or approved for human, animal, or clinical diagnostic use.

At ChemZaro, products labeled “research use only” are limited to in-vitro analytical testing and industrial applications. We provide no data regarding biological effects, safety, or efficacy.

How Is Product Identity Verified?

ChemZaro verifies product identity through multiple analytical techniques, including Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), Mass Spectrometry (MS), Infrared Spectroscopy (IR), and chromatographic retention time comparison. Each batch is cross-verified against known reference standards.

Verification results and the methods used are recorded in the batch-specific Certificate of Analysis (COA).

What Documentation Is Supplied?

Every order ships with: a batch-specific Certificate of Analysis (COA), a current Safety Data Sheet (SDS/MSDS), a packing list with lot number traceability, and — where applicable — regulatory compliance documentation.

COAs are batch-specific. We do not issue generic certificates or reuse documentation across batches.

What Information Is Included in a COA?

Following USP guidance for reference standard candidate materials, ChemZaro COAs include: product name and CAS number, lot number, purity result and analytical method used, reference standard information used for analysis, spectral data summary (IR/NMR), and storage conditions.

All results come from actual testing of that specific batch — not representative values.

How Should Laboratory Materials Be Stored?

Storage conditions vary by compound class. General principles include: segregate by chemical compatibility, physically separate incompatible substances (e.g., oxidizers from reducers, acids from bases), use secondary containment to prevent leaks, protect light-sensitive or moisture-sensitive materials with sealed dark conditions, and label peroxide-forming chemicals with opening date and test schedule.

Specific storage conditions for each batch are stated on the COA and product label.

What Are Your Quality-Control Procedures?

ChemZaro’s quality control follows the general framework of ISO 17034 for reference material producer competence. Procedures include: raw material supplier qualification, incoming material identity verification, batch homogeneity assessment, stability monitoring, and analytical data review prior to release.

No batch is released until all internal review steps are complete.

What Is Your Custom Synthesis Process?

ChemZaro’s custom synthesis service serves clients requiring specific structures, purities, or concentrations of reference compounds. The process is: client submits target structure, purity requirement, and intended use → scientific feasibility assessment and synthetic route design → firm quote and timeline → synthesis and purification → analytical characterization (NMR, MS, HPLC) → delivery with full documentation.

Synthesizable categories include impurities, metabolites, degradation products, and structural analogs.

Which Research Institutions Can Purchase?

ChemZaro supplies exclusively to verified businesses, universities, government laboratories, and research institutions. Account approval requires an institutional tax ID (EIN/TIN) or equivalent organizational registration.

We do not sell to individual buyers or purchasers without institutional affiliation.
